Eleven miles of clear, quiet lake tucked into the woods near Dover-Foxcroft — no crowds, no through-traffic, just loons, lake trout, and room to breathe. Our two Sebec Lake vacation rentals sit right on it, five miles apart, each built for the kind of trip where the whole group actually fits under one roof.
The lake
Sebec Lake runs about 11 miles long with an average depth of 42 feet, and it's some of the cleanest swimming water in the region. Anglers come for the landlocked salmon, lake trout, smallmouth bass, and white perch. On a clear morning you can see Mount Katahdin on the horizon.
There's a public boat launch less than half a mile from Sebec Lake House, and Tim Merrill & Co in Dover-Foxcroft (about 30 minutes away) rents boats if you don't bring your own. Prefer to stay on land? Peaks-Kenny State Park, Borestone Mountain hiking, and Gulf Hagas — the "Grand Canyon of Maine" — are all easy day trips.

The rustic one. A classic Maine lakefront camp in Bowerbank with a screened outdoor kitchen, a fireplace, and fire pits both on the indoor deck and outside. The finished basement walks straight out to the lake, and there's a washer and dryer for long stays.

The polished one. A 3,000-square-foot lakefront home, about five miles from Sebec Lake House, with cathedral ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows facing the pines, and a stone gas fireplace anchoring the great room. Chef's kitchen, finished walkout basement game room, and a deck that runs the length of the house.

Sebec Lake through the seasons
Summer is lake season: swimming off the dock, paddling the shoreline at dawn, tubing behind a rented boat, and evenings around the fire pit. The floating island at Sebec Lake House is the unofficial headquarters for kids.
Fall might be the best-kept part of the secret. The foliage reflects off glassy water, the lake goes quiet, and the hiking — Borestone Mountain, Gulf Hagas — is at its peak. Bring a sweater and a camera.
Winter turns the lake into a playground. Seymour Cove House sits right on the snowmobile trail network, so you can ride from the door. Ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and a wood-stove-warm house to come back to round it out.

Which house should our group pick?
Both sleep 12. Pick Sebec Lake House for a classic rustic camp feel at a lower rate, or Seymour Cove House for more polish — soaring ceilings, soaking tub, game room, and trail access. Need room for 24? Book both; they're about five miles apart, which makes them ideal for family reunions and large gatherings.
What's the pet policy?
Dogs are welcome at both houses at $100 per pet per stay. Seymour Cove House asks that you keep it to 2 pets unless we've agreed otherwise in advance.
When is the dock in the water?
At Sebec Lake House, the dock comes out in the fall and is reinstalled around Memorial Day. If you're booking a shoulder-season stay and the dock matters to you, call us at 207-291-6846 and we'll tell you exactly where things stand.
What's provided at the houses?
Both come with kayaks and paddleboards. Sebec Lake House adds a floating island, screened outdoor kitchen, and washer/dryer. Is firewood provided?
No — please don't transport firewood. Buy it locally once you arrive; there are plenty of sources near Dover-Foxcroft and Greenville.
Can we ride ATVs or snowmobiles from the house?
Yes, from Seymour Cove House — the trails run right from the property. For Sebec Lake House, ask us about current trail access when you book.
Can we book both houses for the same dates?
